About us
Our Vision
To plant a billionaire trees in Uganda
Our Values
At OTOF, our values are straightforward. We believe in integrity, respect, service, innovation, collaboration, and dreaming big.
Our Story
Since 2014, OTOF has been able to distribute 2.5 million tree seedlings in partnership with Uganda's government and others. They noticed challenges in distributing coffee and fruit trees, such as lack of planting knowledge and administrative issues. Uganda faces increasing droughts, food insecurity, and longer dry seasons. Strategic planting of fruit, timber, shade, and health-supporting trees is crucial.
This led to the vision of planting one billion trees. Our Trees Our Future Uganda spearheads this effort, collaborating with partners to reverse environmental degradation.
In 2016, Our Trees Our Future & Uwepo planted 56,000+ trees with 1,500+ families through community organizations. Families received mango, citrus, coffee, jackfruit, avocado, grevillea, and musizi trees.
Our Trees Our Future is a call to action, uniting partners for impactful tree planting.
What We Do
At Our Trees Our Future (OTOF), we work to improve rural household incomes and protect the environment by planting trees in Uganda. We plant fruit, nuts, timber, nutritional, and native trees alongside seasonal crops. This approach provides families with a steady income, helps pay for school fees, improves nutrition, and combats climate change.
In 2018, we launched a pilot project to teach tree planting in 100 schools across four districts. Our trained “tree champions” led this initiative and established environmental clubs in schools. Each school's participation costs $700. We engage young people in tree planting and environmental care, using arts like music, dance, drama, poetry, storytelling, and visual art to inspire them.
Our goal is to plant 1,000,000,000 trees by 2030 with the help of households, schools, community groups, organizations, and government agencies. We focus on planting the right trees in the right places.
HOW WE DO IT?
At OTOF, we carry out our work through school tree planting programs, community environmental groups, partnerships for tree planting, seedling nurseries, resource centers for inputs and advice, distribution of educational materials, participation in national agricultural shows, and creation of model woodlots and forests across Uganda.
